Bible Studies

Each Sunday, St. Paul offers many adult and youth, Bible studies as well as a full Sunday School. Check the news for current studies. The Women's ministry also offers special Bible study programs throughout the year. Finally, students in grades 7-8 join "Head to Heart" for confirmation preparation. Below are some special Bible study events.

START OFF YOUR MONTH WITH A BIG BIBLE STUDY-2012

Led by Pastor Buegler

The following are topics that will be offered on the first Sunday of every month starting at 6:30pm and lasting till 8:00pm in the cafeteria. All will be “user friendly and yet force attendees into the BIBLE as the only text book. Humor and a non-threatening presentation style makes it easy on folks to attend and yet some significantly deep topics will be addressed. The monthly sessions are independent of each other and so you can come and go only to those that are of most interest or that fit your availability.

January 8, 2012 We’re not fighting New Year’s Day…..but this second Sunday will give us a chance to watch “The Bible on Trial” This television special was produced by Lutheran Hour Ministries and shown throughout the country a couple months ago…..but NOT in the Cleveland market. We will watch this program that examines how the Bible can possibly be accurate? How can you know? What about this book has compelled people to give their lives to defend its claims? The validity of the Bible has been questioned for ages and still remains an intriguing subject. The Bible on Trial takes a unique look at the subject and presents facts about the most widely printed book in history.

February 12, 2012 We’re not going to fight the Super Bowl either……so this second Sunday will consider the issue of Gambling. More bets are placed on the Super Bowl than any other sports event….and guess what Cleveland???? The CASINOS ARE COMING. What does the Bible say? How should Christians view the state-run lottery……trips to the Casinos…..picking up a duck at Cedar Point…..playing the stock market…..buying insurance…..OOPS….now we’re meddling, right? February 12th should be fun.

March 4, 2012 Finally a “first Sunday”…….There are 7 verses in the Book of Revelation that begin with the word “BLESSED”. Let’s study the Seven Beatitudes of God’s Last Word. Each of these “blessings” comes with a challenge. We will see the connection between a “blessing” and a “responsibility”.

April 1, 2012 It’s Palm Sunday…..Let’s take a look at the “holy” week ahead in the life of our Lord. Monday at the temple and Tuesday as Jesus teaches his disciples, Spy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday in the upper room and the garden and Good Friday with its 6 trials and of course the crucifixion. We’ll dig out some details you might have missed during all your years of hearing the “passion history”.

May 6, 2012 OK…..before our summer break let’s look at why the Missouri Synod doesn’t ordain women as pastors? Why does the ELCA do so? What about the role of women in the church and in the home? How can denominations that have the same “source book (the Bible)” come to such different practices?
