Contemporary Music Ministry

Purpose

        To serve the body of Christ through worship and praise

        To share the message of the Gospel through music with the community

        To glorify God with the gifts and talents of volunteers

Activities

        Lead praise and worship at all contemporary services

        Share the Gospel through music at area churches, schools, and community activities

        Present a spring praise concert

        Rehearsals - Thursdays 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Sunday Worship Ministry

Readers

Purpose

        To serve the Lord by reading and sharing the written Word with the body of Christ

Activities

        Read aloud the scripture verses during the contemporary services

Meeting Times

        None

Role of Participation

        Ability to read aloud in front of a congregation

Responsibilities

        Sign up on calendar located outside Activity Center

        Be prepared with the scripture reading for appropriate week

        Get microphone from sound desk 10 minutes before service begins

        Walk to front for scripture reading when called upon

LWML – Dorcas Society

Purpose

        To promote Christian education, service, and fellowship

        To support the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the auxiliary to the Lutheran Chaplaincy Service of Greater Cleveland

        Bible studies

        LWML rallies and conventions

        Bake sales and Mite collections

        Deliver care packages to hospitals

        Deliver poinsettias to shut-ins

Altar Guild

Purpose

        To prepare the traditional and contemporary worship areas for all services and school chapel

Activities

        Prepare altars properly and reverently

        Wash, dry, and store communion ware

        Clean and press linens and robes

        Suitably place flower arrangements and dispatch after services

Work in teams of two for one month

Lutherans for Life

Cleveland West

Purpose

        To witness the sanctity of human life through education, based on the Word of God

Activities

        Provide and distribute free resources to Lutheran High West and East

        Celebrate Life contest (grades 4-12)

        Provide and distribute Life Sunday materials to area Lutheran churches

        Collect baby and maternity items to support pregnancy centers

        Sponsor baby showers for those in need

        Give presentations and offer bible studies

        Joint anthems with the Chancel Ringers

Faithful Friends

Purpose

        To reach out beyond the Lutheran community to those confined in nursing homes

        Provide Christian love and service through prayer, song, and sharing the Word of God

Activities

        Share Christian songs and music

        Pray together

        Worship together on Monday evenings

        Visit and spend one-on-one time with the room bound

Meeting Times

        Every Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Rae Ann Suburban

        3rd Thursday for old song sing along

        Ministry Team meets 3 times per year or when necessary

        Willing to share the love of Christ with the elderly

        A joy of singing and sharing music

        New and special talents are welcome

        Assist with set up, clean up for Monday night service

        Bring residents from their rooms to common area and back

        Assist with songbooks

        Talk with residents that are unable to leave their room

        To serve the congregation by giving a warm greeting to all who worship at the contemporary service on Sunday mornings

        Greet at the entrance to the Activity Center

        Hand a bulletin to each member

        Straighten and replenish bulletins after services

        Willingness to say “Good Morning” or “Welcome” to all who enter

        To serve individuals experiencing crisis, transition, or any bumps in the road of life through one-on-one Christian care

        Onsite training and continual education

        Meet with care receivers weekly in a confidential setting
