Mission Work

HAITI MISSION SPEAKER On September 19th, at the 10:30 Sunday morning Bible Class, you will have the opportunity to hear how some individuals are serving the Lord in Haiti. Ms. Carole Bowers will talk about her experiences and what is being done and what needs to be done to help LCMS church members. Haiti was devastated by a major earthquake and has the lowest standard of living in the Caribbean area. Please join us for this informative talk.

Fan Into Flame Needs Your Support!
Support for Fan into Flame has brought in $12, 273 thus far this year for which we thank you and praise God. In order to meet or exceed our goal of $26,000.00/year over 5 years, it will take everyone's participation and special "over and above" gifts to help with spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our focus is the mission field of West Virginia, while knowing our gift will support mission work around the world. Please consider a weekly or monthly contribution toward FIF so that we can lift high the cross for others to see!

 Hearts Helping Hunger

The St. Paul Lutheran Thrivent Hunger Ministry Service Team appreciates all the caring donations of cereal, stew and monetary gifts. Right now we are working on four Hunger Campaigns and we are having a Grandparents Day Bake Sale on Sunday, September 12. Please plan to bake or donate to assist us in meeting the dynamic increase in requests for food at all Hunger Centers. We are helping the Westlake Assistance Program with supplement from the Thrivent Northwest Cuyahoga County Chapter, the Lorain Lutheran Presbyterian Cooperative Ministry with

supplement from the Thrivent Lorain County Chapter, the Parma Lutheran Hunger Program with supplement  from the Thrivent South Cuyahoga County Chapter and Zion Lutheran Food Pantry in Painesville with supplement from the Thrivent Lake-Geauga County Chapter. Thrivent

Financial for Lutherans has faith in us to raise these funds to help others. Please give as you are able. If you have any questions or would like to help,  contact Mary Levtzow at (440) 871-7067. Thank you, and God's Blessings on your day

Faithful Friends Ministry Help us bring joy to others! Please call Shirley McCowan.

The Martha Guild of St. Paul is a loving group of women who provide homemade side dishes, salads, desserts and also serve during luncheons that follow a loved one’s funeral or memorial service.  Words can hardly express the gratitude that families feel from this exceptional ministry which provides Christian love and support during a difficult time in their life.  To continue providing this heartfelt outreach, Women’s Ministry is currently seeking caring individuals who would be willing to take on the role of co-leaders.  Those who feel their gifts are of compassion, mercy, and serving are asked to prayerfully consider this opportunity.  To learn more, speak with Esther H. 440 808-9266.

St. Paul School:

Our children collected over $550 for Christ Deaf Lutheran Church in Cleveland.  We are currently collecting for LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots).  Any donations are greatly appreciated as we try to reach our $500 goal.

From Thrivent ...Help us receive a grant!  St. Paul School is eligible to receive a one-time grant from Thrivent.  If we receive $8,680 in personal donations, Thrivent will give the school $4,340.  ANYONE, not just Thrivent members,  can participate.  Simply place your donation (checks made payable to St. Paul Lutheran School) in an envelope clearly marked “Thrivent” and place in the offering plate or bring to the church or school office.  The grant application deadline is June 30, 2010.  Thank you!

WANTED— YOUR OLD GLASSES!  Your glasses can help others see.  Please consider
donating eyeglasses that will be given to others so that they can see.  MOST (Mission Opportunities Short Term) Ministries conducts evangelism classes and distributes glasses in third world countries around the world to people who cannot afford them. The donated glasses allow many to see clearly and also provide them with the opportunity to read the Bible for the first time!  If you would like to donate any glasses, please put them in the designated box in the vestibule. Your efforts are truly appreciated and will enable people to see and have exposure to the Gospel message.
You can learn more about the many ministries conducted by MOST by going online to: www.mostministries.org.  If you have any questions, please call Bill Ott (440) 937-6732.

LWML Projects:

Mite Box Sundays - The first Sunday of each month is Mite Box Sunday.  Please take a Mite Box or envelope, fill it, and return it the following month.  These donations are used to fund mission grants chosen at LWML conventions, including a new mission field opening in North Korea.

Asian Ministry: “It is better to not have food for three days than to go without tea for one.”  How much more important than tea is the love of our redeeming God?  And yet, the concept of a God who loves and saves is utterly unknown to millions and millions of people in that country. It would be so good if we at St. Paul in Westlake could help to change that.…and we can! On November 1st, we officially began our commitment of assistance to further the work of a missionary family in China.  We pray for those who work for the gospel in more difficult settings throughout the world.  Our support will be for  those who are yet to know of the love of our God. Look for information in our bulletins and at display tables so that you may more specifically know who we are praying for and how we can be of assistance.
