Mission Work

WANTED...YOUR OLD GLASSES!  Your glasses can help others see.  Please consider donating eyeglasses that will be given to others so that they can see. MOST (Mission Opportunities Short Term) Ministries conducts evangelism classes and distributes glasses in third world countries around the world to people who cannot afford them. The donated glasses allow many see clearly and also provide them with the opportunity to read the Bible for the first time!   If you have any type of glasses – distance or reading – please consider donating them.  SUNGLASSES are also needed.  In many countries there is intense and prolonged sunlight which causes eye damage.  Your donated glasses are cleaned, repaired, categorized and package. MOST mission teams take the glasses to Lutheran churches that have requested assistance.  People will go to the churches where they are examined and their distance and reading needs are determined. Glasses are then distributed from the inventory available and fitted to the individual. Evangelism teams share the saving Gospel message with all those who attend.  If you would like to donate any glasses, please put them in the designated box in the narthex. Your efforts are truly appreciated and will enable people to see and have exposure to the Gospel message.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN THE PAST. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS MINISTRY! You can learn more about the many ministries conducted by MOST by going online to: www.mostministries.org.  If you have any questions, please call Bill Ott (440) 937-6732.

 Hearts Helping Hunger

Thrivent St. Paul Hunger Ministry strives to meet needs

During the months of November and early December, members and friends of St. Paul have great challenges ahead in helping others. We have Thrivent supplemental drives to assist our 5 East side centers supplemented by East Cuyahoga Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans; drives and bake sales to assist St. John’s Lutheran Food Cupboard in Elyria, North Ridgeville Community Care, Lorain Lutheran Presbyterian Cooperative Ministry and the Christ/Our Savior Three Kings Celebration supplemented by the Lorain County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans; drives to assist our friends at Trinity Food Program, Immanuel Hunger and Crises Center and Redeemer Hunger and Crises Center supplemented by Northwest Cuyahoga Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Every dollar goes a long way in meeting needs. May the Lord Bless and Keep You as you pray for and become involved in this exciting ministry that changes lives.

Please remember to continue donating clothes and household items for the Redeemer Hunger and Crisis Center, along with chicken breasts, stew, cereal and flavored Quaker Instant Oatmeal Variety Packs for the winter months to assist the Immanuel Center in meeting needs. Each of us can do our part in sharing the compassion and love of Jesus as described so passionately in Matthew 25. Call Mary Levtzow (440-871-7067) with questions or feel free to drop items off at the Levtzow’s 2454 Dover Center Road (white home southwest corner of Dover Center and Bassett with long driveway off Bassett).

Faithful Friends Ministry Help us bring joy to others! Please call Shirley McCowan.

The Martha Guild of St. Paul is a loving group of women who provide homemade side dishes, salads, desserts and also serve during luncheons that follow a loved one’s funeral or memorial service.  Words can hardly express the gratitude that families feel from this exceptional ministry which provides Christian love and support during a difficult time in their life.  To continue providing this heartfelt outreach, Women’s Ministry is currently seeking caring individuals who would be willing to take on the role of co-leaders.  Those who feel their gifts are of compassion, mercy, and serving are asked to prayerfully consider this opportunity.  “How can I join the Martha Guild? Can I request what task I would like to do?”  If you would like to join the Martha Guild (or even just ask more questions about this ministry), please contact Tammy Smanik (tsmanik@yahoo.com or 440-808-8534) or Cindy Duran (mcduran6@gmail.com or 440-308-1681).  Yes, you can request a specific task.  Some ladies offer to serve where the need is greatest, but many feel more comfortable serving in a specific way. Either offer of assistance is most welcome!
