The Te Deum | Colossians 1:1-14; Luke 10:25-37
Faith is a very personal thing. No one can believe for you. And you can’t believe for someone else. However, there are times and circumstances when it is important for Christians to make a statement that begins with the words: “We believe.” Discuss some of those circumstances.
Discuss ways in which a CREED is not only a statement of what we believe but also a pledge of our allegiance.
Remember when Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do people say I am” and then asked Peter personally who he thought Jesus was, and Peter answered: “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” And remember doubting Thomas confessed: “My Lord and my God.” These are short creeds that pack a powerful punch. Discuss ways we can make such statements of our faith.
The Augsburg Confession was signed by 9 laymen in 1530 and states what we Lutherans BELIEVE, TEACH AND CONFESS. Discuss why it is important for the church to not only cling to but witness to…..what we BELIEVE, TEACH AND CONFESS.
